Dance Jobs Oxford FAQ
Questions we hear often from dance instructors thinking about teaching at Oxford Dance Centre.
Do I have to be a qualified teacher to apply for dance work in Oxford?
A formal teaching certificate is a bonus rather than a requirement. What matters most to us is solid dance training, time spent performing, and the knack for getting a room moving and smiling. Show us you can keep a class safe, lively and well taught and we would love to talk.
What hourly rate can instructors expect at Oxford Dance Centre?
Weekly class teachers start at £22 an hour. Our specialist roles — hen party sessions and wedding first dances — begin at £25 an hour. We look at rates often and they climb as you build a track record with us.
Which dance styles are you recruiting teachers for in Oxford?
Recruitment runs across the full set of 20 styles on our timetable — salsa, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, ballroom, street dance, jazz, tap, K-pop, line dancing, burlesque, belly dance, bollywood, flamenco, tango, bachata, commercial, heels, Irish dancing and pole. On top of that we take on hen party leaders and wedding first dance choreographers.
Is the work at Oxford Dance Centre full-time or freelance?
Every role is flexible and freelance. You decide the hours that suit your life — weekday evenings, weekends, or a mix of both. Most of our instructors take on somewhere between two and ten hours a week around their other commitments.
Is it worth applying if I specialise in just one style?
Definitely. We are glad to take on single-style experts and slot you into the classes that play to your strength. Teachers who cover several styles simply unlock a wider choice of timetable slots, but one discipline is plenty to get started.
