Dance Class FAQ

The things people tend to check before joining a dance class in Oxford — the styles, the prices, the experience levels, where we run and what to pack.

What dance classes can I take in Oxford?

Across the week we teach twenty different dance styles in Oxford. On the Latin and partner side there is Bachata, Ballroom, Salsa and Tango. For something more theatrical, try Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz or Tap. The high-energy camp covers Commercial, Heels, Hip-Hop, K-Pop, Pole Dance and Street Dance. Rounding things off are Belly Dance, Bollywood, Burlesque, Flamenco, Irish Dancing and Line Dancing. Every style is led by a professional instructor and open to all levels, beginners very much included.

What do dance classes in Oxford cost?

One drop-in session costs £10. Book a four-week block for £32 and you save £8 against paying week by week. You will not find any contracts, joining fees or tie-ins waiting in the small print.

Do I need experience or a partner to come along?

Neither. Every class is built for all levels, and the partner-based styles rotate everyone around so you never need to bring someone of your own. Instructors layer the moves up gradually from the basics, which is exactly why so many of our dancers are adults returning after a long break.

Where in Oxford do classes take place?

Our weekly dance classes run at a studio we hire in Oxford city centre — a couple of minutes from the Covered Market and Gloucester Green. We are adding more venues across the city, so get in touch to hear when a class opens near you.

Can I come to one class before I commit to a block?

Of course — the £10 drop-in is there for precisely this. Spend one session with us under no obligation whatsoever, then step up to a four-week block whenever you feel ready.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable kit you can move in — leggings, joggers, a tee or a vest. Footwear follows the style: trainers for street, hip-hop and commercial; soft shoes or socks for ballet and contemporary; a sturdy heel for heels and burlesque; smooth-soled shoes for salsa, ballroom and tango. Bring some water, and your instructor will mention anything specific when you book.
